Opening Ceremony for the Pilot Plant Centre for Polymer Synthesis and Polymer
Processing, Schkopau, Saxony-Anhalt.
On 22 June 2005, in the ValuePark in Schkopau took place the opening ceremony of the Europe-wide unique establishment for polymer synthesis and polymer
processing. From now on the Pilot Plant Centre has become operational.
The Pilot Plant Centre is an initiative of the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Polymer Research in Golm and of the Fraunhofer Institute for Mechanics of Materials in Halle. The project for the development of the centre has been supported by local
authorities, the government of Saxony-Anhalt and the European Union. The lead participant of the ChemSME
project, the district Merseburg-Querfurt is one of the shareholders and an active contributor to the development of the Pilot Plant Centre.
The centre offers the unique opportunity to realise various processes of polymers synthesis and polymer processing from monomers to
end-products. The formulation of complete solutions for potential clients is enabled by the integration of areas of applied and basic
research, conducted in competent laboratories of the involved
institutes, as well as through intensive cooperation with regional
academia.
The centre serves as a competent service provider in the field of polymer research and
development, in particular for small medium-sized businesses.
In particular Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprises from the ChemSME partner regions Limburg, North-East of England and Saxony-Anhalt will be encouraged to use the competent services of the Pilot Plant Centre for Polymer Synthesis and
Processing.
More information on the pilot plant centre and further contact details can be found
